What is GriefShare?
A GriefShare life group is a safe, welcoming place where people understand the complex emotions of grief. This group provides support and encouragement in your journey after the death of a spouse, child, family member, or friend. After the funeral, when the cards and flowers have stopped coming, many people who have supported you may have to return to their everyday responsibilities. However, your grief continues, and you feel alone. Often, friends and family want to help, yet they don’t always know how.
Our GriefShare life group is designed to be a safe haven where you can work through your grief journey. It is led by caring facilitators who have experienced grief themselves. They understand how you feel because they have been in the same place. They will walk with you on the path of grief toward healing and hope for the future.
There are three key parts to your GriefShare experience:
1) A Video Seminar packed with encouraging information from leading grief recovery experts, pastors, and laypeople who have experienced the grief journey.
2) A Support Group where you and the grieving group members are led to discuss the weekly video content and encourage one another.
3) A Workbook that provides journaling and personal study exercises that reinforce the weekly session topics and faith-based material to help you lean into the never-ending comfort from God.
Here at Atmosphere, we run this 13-week course several times a year. Our group is run by seasoned GriefShare leaders and will provide you with any support you need. You’ll discover what to expect in the days ahead and what is “normal” in grief. Since there are no neat, orderly stages of grief, you’ll learn helpful ways of coping with grief, in all its unpredictability—and gain solid support each step of the way.
If you want more information, don’t hesitate to contact our Life Groups Director, Heidi Rogers.
